This policy explains what information Bookfynder ("we," "us") collects when you use the app, how it's used, and what control you have over it. By using Bookfynder, you agree to the practices described here. We never sell your data.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following:

• Account information: email address, username, and profile picture, provided when you sign up or edit your account.
• Reading data: books you add, their status (queued, reading, read), ratings, priority, categories, and reading progress (pages read, session notes) that you log.
• Payment information: if you subscribe to Bookfynder Pro, billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details — we only receive your subscription status and renewal date from Stripe.
• Usage data: basic technical information (such as browser type and general usage patterns) that helps us keep the app working correctly.

2. How we use your information

• To generate personalized book recommendations. Your reading history and ratings are sent to an AI model (via OpenAI) to produce suggestions — this data is used only to generate your recommendations, not to train any model.
• To operate your library, stats, and account features.
• To process subscription payments, via Stripe.
• To respond to support requests you send us.
• To maintain the security and reliability of the app.

3. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We share data only with the service providers necessary to run Bookfynder:

• Supabase — authentication, database hosting, and file storage (profile pictures).
• OpenAI — processes your reading history to generate book recommendations.
• Stripe — processes subscription payments and stores your payment method securely on their end.

Each of these providers has its own privacy practices governing how they handle data on our behalf.

4. Data retention

We keep your account and reading data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your profile, saved books, reading history, and uploaded avatar are permanently removed from our systems. This action cannot be undone.

5. Your rights

You can, at any time:

• Access and update your account information from Account settings.
• Delete your account and all associated data.
• Contact us to ask what data we hold about you or to request its deletion.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Children's privacy

Bookfynder is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
